Respectfully, 2025 Was Just the Warm-Up
How We’re Approaching 2026 With Clarity, Protection & Decisive Action. | I Am What an Intellectual Property Attorney Looks Like.
Hey Fam!
We’re back!!!
I hope you had a restful, grounding holiday season.
I know I did. I took some much-needed time away, spent time with family, and gave myself the space to really reflect on 2025.
And whew — what a year.
2025 was monumental. Eventful. Stretching. Clarifying.
For many of us, it demanded growth, discernment, and resilience all at once.
So before charging full speed into 2026, I wanted to pause, ground myself, and get really intentional about what’s next.
Now that we’re here, I’m excited to say: we’re coming into 2026 focused, aligned, and ready to execute.
And boy do we have some amazing and exciting things in store for you.
Ready?
Let’s get into it.

But first, some church announcements...
We have some really big moments planned for this year, and we’re excited to invite you into them.
These upcoming events are designed to meet you where you are — whether you’re building, protecting, scaling, or repositioning your intellectual property.
The Firm for the Culture - Power Moves Series
Over the next few weeks, we’ll be rolling out our Power Moves Series to help you start the year off right.
You’ll hear about some of the top moguls in our industry—including Kevin Hart, Ryan Coogler, and Issa Rae—as we unpack their stories, break down the contractual decisions that shaped their careers, and highlight the IP power moves that helped them build longevity and leverage.
More importantly, we’ll translate those lessons so you can apply them directly to your own business.
And in case you thought we’d stop there—if you’re a coach, consultant, speaker, or impact maker planning to play big this year (and I know many of you are), you don’t want to be slowed down by a contract that puts you in hot water.
That’s why we’re also hosting upcoming workshops designed to help you move smarter.
You’ll leave with greater clarity, stronger positioning, and a dynamic understanding of how to do business better—before problems arise, not after
Registration is FREE; in case you’re unable to make it, sign up and you’ll get the free notes.
After event recordings are $20.00 each.
Hope to see you there!
EVENT #1 — THE POWER MOVES SERIES: KEVIN HART | January 22, 2026
Kevin Hart didn’t just build a career — he built ownership, intentionally.
In this session of The Power Moves Series, we break down how he protected his name, structured his brand, and created leverage early instead of fixing things later.
This is about understanding how your name becomes an asset — and why trademarks and IP matter long before you feel “big enough.”

EVENT #2 — THE POWER MOVES SERIES: RYAN COOGLER | February 12, 2026
Scaling is exciting. It’s also where a lot of creatives lose control. Ryan Coogler offers a powerful example of what it looks like to protect your voice while operating inside big systems with real money at stake.
In this Power Moves Series session, we break down how ownership, contracts, and IP strategy show up when your work reaches a larger stage.

EVENT #3 — DO NOT SIGN THAT CONTRACT | February 26, 2026
This session keeps getting requested — and for good reason. Too many creatives sign contracts they don’t fully understand because they don’t want to miss an opportunity. In this live session, we’ll walk through what to slow down for, what to question, and what not to sign without clarity.
No fear tactics. Just practical guidance.
If you’ve ever thought, “I hope this is okay,” before signing, this one is for you.

EVENT #4 — THE POWER MOVES SERIES: ISSA RAE | March 12, 2026
Issa Rae didn’t just create culture. She protected it.
Her career is a case study in building with intention, owning your voice, and using IP to support creative freedom instead of limiting it.
In this final session, we’re breaking down how trademarks, ownership, and smart legal strategy helped turn authenticity into longevity.
